Donald Trump is not the kind of character who appeals readily to Southerners. However, he is a recognisable un-Woke American type who deserves credit for some virtues.
His is certainly not a Southern administration although a solid South made possible his big victory in the popular vote and the Electoral College.
It is nice to see steps being taken against the bloated and destructive nature of the U.S. government – something truly revolutionary that we never expected to see happen. How good to see the DEI fraud attacked and 10,000 bureaucrats leaving the Department of Health and Human Services. It will be a long-term benefit to society and the economy, though the government will probably still have to pay their lavish pensions. And the destructive and unconstitutional Department of Education brought into question.
The same process needs to be applied to the military brass, who are all devious bureaucrats and not soldiers at all.
All that is really just a drop in the bucket. There are still many tens of thousands of federal drones to be eliminated. Where will they find work? It will be nice to see them as WalMart employees and waiters.
I have to say that my opinion of Trump rose greatly with his inaugural and state of the Union speeches. They were actually statesmanlike, something not seen from a President in a long, long time. He told the big picture like it is, while surrounded by all the empty-suit and corrupt officials who were responsible for the evils he was describing.
Trump’s biggest obstacle remains the Republican Party. The grassroots is populist but the mainstream Republicans, like Speaker Johnson, want to get back to their comfortable power and pelf. They have never been a real opposition party but have aided and abetted creation of the evil regime that Trump and his followers have attacked.
Some of Trump’s moves seem bombastic and a bit ridiculous. Why acquire Greenland when we already have all the military bases there that we need? Acquire Canada which has 10 states, making our country, already too big, even bigger? We ought to be getting rid of useless territory – like Puerto Rico. Reclaiming the Panama Canal might make sense.
I am hopeful that all the noise being made about Ukraine and Russia is just jockeying and things will come right.
Trump’s rabidly excessive Zionism is a deep moral failure that is inexcusable. The only explanation may be that no American President can survive without obedience to Israeli interests. Then there are the stupid Evangelicals and their deceitful and opportunistic leaders.
In the 1980s some of us begin to project a Southern nationalism. We thought that the U.S. was hopeless, that only independence could save the South, and that devolution was the wave of the future. We were mostly right, but history has moved on and it is hard to see for sure where we stand now. And sadly, some of those who dishonestly present themselves as Southern spokesmen are fascists, which there is nothing more un-Southern.
Trumpians have made some noise about restoring the historic monuments and symbols that were trashed in recent years. During World War II a lot of army bases were named for Confederate generals to encourage Southern support for the war—Bragg, Benning, Hood, Polk, etc.
It seems that the old names have been restored to Forts Bragg and Benning. But the names now represent not Confederates but other people with the same names. This is a bit of a dirty trick.
I am withholding judgment and approval until I see the noble Reconciliation Monument restored to Arlington.

A couple of things. Trump did not win big in the popular vote. He won by less than two percent. He is going to get into considerable difficulty if he tries govern as though he won a landslide, which he seems to firmly believe. Delusions are a poor foundation for any administration.
Secondly, at some point, the country is going to have to decide if it can be governed by executive orders. No matter who the president is, or whether any of us might agree with much of what he tries to do, there is nothing in the Constitution that says the American have to take orders from the president.
perhaps with trends as they were widely reported….a small popular vote victory may have more significance for future elections.
Canada won’t come in as more that a couple of States…Greenland can be annexed by Florida.
Lose a war to Russia and much has to change…the quota-based system that failed us so spectacularly will be cast to the dung heap where it always belonged.
Just imagine trying to fight a US military that hadn’t been divided by race, sex, gender, religion…you’d be back to WW2…the last time we won a real war.
The last time the US was threatened was 1865. We are our own worst enemy. Imagine a US military that hadn’t had its weapons production offshored to China. Imagine the US without the communist atheist influence of the 48ers.
Trump is a bone fide Noo Yawka and as such he naturally grates on the sensibilities of non-Noo Yawkas. BUT REMEMBER my Southron friends, had it not been for us Noo Yawkas and the so-called “draft riots,” the Army of Northern Virginia would have perished at Gettysburg ~ maybe it ALL would have ended there. But because of the violence in New York, Meade had to send a large percentage of his army north and he wouldn’t have confronted Lee without a four to one advantage! So cut us unattractive Noo Yawkas a little slack!
DJT is the consummate yankee…but even he has learned to despise fedgov’s tyranny. Glad he’s not too old and set in his ways to improve himself.
If we had more noo yawkas we might’ve won on day one!
If NYC had been serious about secession, we would have welcomed them with open arms. But, instead, they were just posturing for a bone thrown their way with the anticipated northern trans-continental railroad, which would be passed through a yankee-dominated congress once those pesky Southerners departed.
Cities (and states etc.) are not people but there were enough people who didn’t like Lincoln’s war in NY to make a difference at least in the draft question. Actually, the NY papers believed that the Southern states had the right to secede. It wasn’t until the ECONOMICS of secession was made clear that many in the north went hard over. Always follow the money!
More to the point, have we considered the basics. The union was created by sovereign States (nations) and sovereign people who created a very limited national government. Trump is moving to divest the feds of many of the areas it was never allowed to operate in. We could see a real ‘house cleaning’.
I believe Trump , although being a Yankee, is basically the consummate State’s Rights advocate and believer…maybe me more so than any President since Andrew Jackson
Any port in a storm.
lookin that way.
“…rabidly excessive Zionism is a deep moral failure…”
I wouldn’t say today’s Israel is the “Israel of God,” (Gal. 6:16). Man is not going to put the Israel of God together in their land, the Lord is going to do that Himself.
However, when that time comes, and it is coming (Romans 11:25), if any Gentile find themselves in that time (“time of Jacob’s trouble”), and it’s not a good idea for one to find themselves in that time, the Gentile better do all he or she can to help and bless the Jew, and then some. It’s going to really count then.

“During World War II a lot of army bases were named for Confederate generals to encourage Southern support for the war—Bragg, Benning, Hood, Polk, etc.” I recently found out that there was a naming system set up by the military that picked the naming of the Military Bases with Local Military Heroes.
i think Abbeville I. had an article a few months back about the reconcilliation monument at Arlington….the gist…you crappy southerners just accept the the modern monetary, global non-isolationism, what ever an american-interest is overseas, union meant unbreakblae union, despite what historical northerners may have said….system in place now…and be happy? The article i believe, stated that it really couldn’t be a reconciliation monument; even though it was described as such, and ‘so what’ if its gone. im not a history expert….but maybe there is some truth in that blog post.
